Trick or Treat Quilt

It's finally fall here, after a beautiful and warm September.

I call this one Trick or Treat.




It's adapted from "Home is Where You Hang Your Heart", in the book Folk Art Quilts by Sandy Bonsib.

I often piece borders just to add to the scrappiness. And to use up my scraps.


The houses are nine patches, and the roofs are flying geese.




See that blue sky? Days like this will be few and far between from now until the after the Fourth of July...


But I'm not complaining. Honest. Just makes us who live in the Pacific Northwest appreciate sunshine and blue sky all the more.

    I love this one. It totally captures a cozy, autumn, October feeling. As I experience more extreme seasons here in NYC, I have come to really look forward to the fall. Yay, it's here!!

    I love this QUILT, I love Sandy Bonsib and I truly LOVE your picture. I am in the NW also and lamenting the end of 'blue skies'. BTW I just saw your FIL's tie quilt and I had a teacher at Mercer Island High School named Bill in the seventies that wore 'wild' ties. He taught Civics. Any relation?

    My FIL doesn't live in the NW. But maybe the wild tie/70s/teacher thing isn't that unique! :D

    The quilt is beautiful! I love your pieced border, it's so frivolous! getting chilly here in CT too, autumn is definitely here and winter is not far off.

    I love the idea of nine patch for the house and flying geese for the roof. My son is in the Pacific Northwest and trying to adjust to the weather (grew up in Florida).

    Love your quilt and thanks for the circle quilt tutorial. Since you love circles, I stumbled on a nifty way to sew circles without any fuss. Go to http://www.fibreandstitch.com/, then click projects and you'll see "sewing circles" in the left column. They use a tack and it turns the circle!

    O.K. I totally love that quilt and your colors and the scrappiness of it. I have that book by Sandy Bonsib and have thought about making that quilt a few times. Now you've inspired me to go on and do it. I grew up in Washington State so I know what you mean about few cloudless days. Your quilt is beautiful and I love where you took the pictures. Lovely!

    I love the colors you chose, and the scrappy border is great. Awesome photos also! It is more traditional than I usually prefer, but there is something about it that I just really love. I also found your circle quilt tutorial (again) while looking around your blog. I will definitely be making one of those, one day.
