Thrifted Grandma's Garden
I love to find treasures at my local Value Village. This is my latest find....
It's a hand pieced quilt top, made from 1 1/2 inch hexes.
Would you look at some of these fabrics!?!?
And I feel like I practically stole this- it was a bargain to begin with, and I got it for half price!
As excited as I am to have found this, I'm always curious about the story of such a treasure being donated by someone. Thank you, unknown quilt top maker. I'll give your quilt a good home.
Wow, what a terrific find! I'm sure you will do its maker justice. It makes me a little bit sad to think of something like this ending up in the thrift shop - it also makes me a wee bit jealous 'cause I've never found anything this cool in my local shops!
I would turn in my grave if someone gave away my hard quilting work like that!! Isn't it fantastic?! At least it's gone to someone who will appreciate all the work so she will be grateful for that I guess.
Darn it! You always find the best things. This is a treasure! Obviously some one had no appreciation for the hours and hours of work this quilt represents. Good work, Stephanie!
I am jealous, that is gorgeous!! I love your comment about giving the top a "good home." My daughter says we "adopt" quilts instead of buying them - we just need to give them a good home - a place where they will be loved and cherished.
Stunning! many loving hours went into making this quilt.it looks huge..
