Wash Cloth Gift Wrap

Here's a quick baby gift wrap idea to add some fun color that's useful too.

 Simply roll up a cute collection of baby wash cloths that you've purchased or made yourself and add to the top of your gift. (I love having white gift wrap on hand- it works for every type of event!)

I used a strip of double-sided tape to hold the wash cloths in place. Tie with a ribbon and you're good to go! (I slipped the card under the ribbon on the back of the gift.)

Bird Tag

I like to cut and paste. I think it reminds me of the fun I had as a child using scissors and construction paper and white paste. I don't think kids do that much any more. I see that many of my students have poor cutting skills. (But they are much more skilled on the computer than I am, that's for sure!)

This wedding shower gift is a cute colander filled with a variety of kitchen items- a small microplane, some cloth napkins, a jarred candle, etc. (It's so easy to spend a lot more on little items than I mean to! But it's so fun to put gift baskets together, so I keep doing it…)

The bird tag was very loosely inspired by the colors and fabrics of the napkins. I free-hand cut out all the shapes in the interest of time, but I also think it helps keep the design more spontaneous. The size of the bird determined the size of the card, so that's what I mean by spontaneous. I avoid measuring whenever possible…I have a crate of file folders with scrap card stock sorted by color, just for making tags and cards like this one. 

(My organized hoard of supplies come in handy!)

Board Book Gift Wrap

 I attended a baby shower recently, and this is my gift- a stack of some of my favorite board books.

I wrapped each book in a different shade of tissue paper. The stack was gathered in clear cellophane, and tied with a felted wire (kind of like a long fluffy pipe cleaner). I attached a small stuffed bear and a tag made from paper scraps to mimic the tissue colors. I added a pop up flower made from my favorite daisy punch.

I love giving books for gifts. This stack included some art-themed abc, number, and shape books-so Anna will start her art education early!

A Quick Gift Idea

Do you need a quick gift?

Last year's post-Christmas sale cloth napkins, recycled ribbon, and tags made from last year's Christmas cards and other paper scraps...

You could make your own napkins,but these store-bought ones worked out. (When I bought them, I'd planned on embroidering them... But I never got around to it, so I relied on the "wrapping" to make them look fun.

I donated these to our Service Auction at church, and I'm happy to say they were a hit in the silent auction. I also donated some drawing lessons, and a few other items. It's fun to see what creative ways people participated- I won a haircut, some yard labor, and a cute cocoa basket with collaged coasters.

We raised money to provide Christmas for some families who could use our help. (My husband is making cookies for a year, with a monthly delivery to the happy highest bidder. Yes, HE will be baking them, not me!) :D

Wrap it Up

I'm trying to use the tags I made a while back with my friend Karen...this one's made from a picture off a calendar's packing envelope.

But sometimes I just have to play with the wrapping paper...
