Q-Group Continues...

We loved Barbara's Easter Quilt, especially her unique fabric selections...
The colors reminded me of gold foil wrapped chocolate bunnies- YUM!

And here is a new circle quilt by Barbara...more yummy fabrics and delicious colors!

Marsha asked us for advice on this sunny quilt she's working on....

And even though Lori wasn't at our meeting, we got to see this Christmas quilt that Terry had finished quilting...

More March Q-Group

Marsha prepared a most delicious luncheon for us, complete with mini blackboarded flower pots for place cards. Paninis, a fabulous salad with a cinnamon spiced dressing, and chocolate souffles for dessert!! (No photos of the food- we were too busy raving about it in between bites!!)

Terry may be the most detail oriented of our group, and she's a wonderful long arm quilter too.
Check out the cute carrots quilted in her Aunt Gracie Easter quilt....

All needle turn appliqued, then blanket stitched by hand as well.

This photo Denise's quilt doesn't do it justice- I didn't notice I was catching it back-lit!!

Denise also shared her cute yo-you embellished sweater...

March Meeting at Marsha's

It was a beautiful day for this month's Quilt Group meeting, and the quilts were pretty too!

These cheery and colorful quilts are by Helen. We love how she uses color and combines fabrics.

Some Tops Added to the Stack

Every month, someone in our quilt group gets blocks from everyone- in the pattern of their choosing. I asked for some red or turquoise blocks with white centers.

I didn't really have a layout plan, but this is what I came up with. Some of the other blocks are used on the backing. When I finish it, it will be donated for a charity auction.

And the one below is a baby quilt top that I made in the middle of working on the quilt above. While digging around in my stash, I found the HST's that were left over from a Zig Zag quilt I made for my grandson. For some reason, I HAD to sew them together. IMMEDIATELY.
And then I HAD to use this GIANT polka dot for the borders. I'll use a smaller dot for the binding.

Snow Day Quilt Group

Our regulary scheduled meeting was snowed out, so for many of us, a snow day was a sew day!

We all made these stars in pink and black for Dawn, who will be putting them together for a Play for Pink breast cancer auction.

This big beauty is also by Dawn. I wish the photo was better- it was a typical gray and rainy day when we met a week after being snowed out.

Dawn put together her American Hero Quilt top- it's fun to see how we put together the same block in different ways!

Dawn's been making hand appliqued hearts for a few years now. She said she enjoys having some hand work to take with her, sewing a few at a time. The turned edge hearts are now all together ready for some quilting. Sweet!

Chicken Scratch

I had to buy it....

I went thrifting (Value Village) for white plastic plates to use as pallets in my art classes. I found just what I needed... and then I found this tablecloth.

It's chicken scratch embroidery-usually done on gingham, but this is a heavier black and white check homespun-type of cloth. I love how the asterisk embroidery completely changes the look of the cloth so that it reads as different solids instead of checks.

It measures 65"x44".
All that handwork for less than $5. ... At least it's appreciated now that it has a new home!
